Its vigorous plants mature earlier than many ornamental and flour corns, making it an excellent choice for northern gardens and areas with short growing seasons.
Corn grows best in fertile, well-drained soil with consistent moisture throughout the growing season. Sow seeds in blocks of at least four short rows rather than a single long row to promote good pollination. Harvest ears at the milk stage for fresh eating, or allow them to dry completely on the stalk for milling, ornamental use, or saving seed.
