For much of the year, we are selling seed that is still in the ground. You can pre-order based on our conservative harvest estimates. If the actual harvest is less than our estimates, we can usually find a similar strain to substitute within the same varietal group, so please check YES to “May We Substitute?”. If you select NO we will send a refund for any sold-out strains. An expert always considers your location, similar traits in strain, and any other strains already on your order to avoid duplicates. You are also welcome to add any notes if you have specific requests for possible substitutions, or you can request that we contact you if substitutions are necessary.
Madrid Garlic is an Artichoke-type softneck variety originally purchased in a Madrid market and brought back to California by a farmer. This attractive strain is known for its beautiful large bulbs, excellent clove structure, and distinctive flattened bulb tops.
Madrid produces 8–12 plump, well-shaped cloves per bulb with a mild flavor and just a touch of heat. Its combination of impressive bulb size, appealing appearance, and balanced culinary flavor makes it an excellent choice for gardeners seeking a unique and versatile Artichoke garlic.
NOTE: Maximum allowable order size for this variety is a 2 lb.
When Will This Ship?
Orders shipping to Alaska will ship as soon as possible in September.
All other orders will be shipped in the order which they were received beginning in mid September. If you order late (after August 1), expect your order to ship mid-October thru November.
