Substitutions

For much of the year, we are selling seed that is still in the ground. You can pre-order based on our conservative harvest estimates. If the actual harvest is less than our estimates, we can usually find a similar strain to substitute within the same varietal group, so please check YES to “May We Substitute?. If you select NO we will send a refund for any sold-out strains. An expert always considers your location, similar traits in strain, and any other strains already on your order to avoid duplicates. You are also welcome to add any notes if you have specific requests for possible substitutions, or you can request that we contact you if substitutions are necessary.

Description

Nootka Rose Garlic is a Silverskin-type softneck variety and a beautiful Northwest heirloom from the San Juan Islands off the Washington coast. Originally shared by Steve Bensel of Nootka Rose Farm in Waldron, Washington, this striking variety is prized for its exceptional color, strong flavor, and beautiful braiding qualities.

Nootka Rose produces medium to large bulbs with cloves streaked in red over a mahogany background and finished with solid red tips. Its attractive appearance makes it one of the most beautiful garlics for braiding, while its strong, classic garlic flavor makes it a favorite in the kitchen. With its unique regional history and outstanding performance, Nootka Rose has become one of the most popular Silverskin strains.
